Welcome

Welcome to my blog. This is a journal of things in my life during the adoption process. If you want to start at the beginning you need to read backwards. What this means is go to the archives (January 2006) and read through to current time. I enjoy reading your comments, so please post your thoughts for me to read. Colette

New Addition To The Walker Family!

2 years ago we put to sleep our beloved black lab (Cassie) . Megan has been asking & pleading to get another dog. Well, here we are 2 years later and we finally did it.

As you know getting a new pet is a big commitment. But we had run out of excuses.

Last Saturday we went to the Tulsa Human Society. After checking out all of the dogs we only looked at 2, Sammi & Ann. Ann was only 12 weeks and would definitly have to be potty trained and being only 3 months old was very much a 'puppy'. So, we ruled out Ann.

Anyway, Megan wanted to take Sammi home that day. Bob & I agreed that we would need to think about it. After thinking about it, I went and filled out the paperwork on Tuesday. We got the call on Wednesday and picked her up that day.

What we know about Sammi. She is 8 months old and has been spayed. She is a mutt with some lab in her and lots of other stuff. Bob is taking her into the vet today and he is going to ask the vet what else she has in her. She weighs 33 pounds and they think she will get up to 50-55 pounds. She doesn't bark and is genuinely a sweet dog. Sammi loves to be petted and played with. We know that she had been in the Human Society at least for a month. So, she is in heaven to not be in a kennel all day long.

We hope that she will be a part of our family for a lot of years.
