Welcome

Welcome to my blog. This is a journal of things in my life during the adoption process. If you want to start at the beginning you need to read backwards. What this means is go to the archives (January 2006) and read through to current time. I enjoy reading your comments, so please post your thoughts for me to read. Colette

Slippers!

These were a baby gift for Olivia from my friend (Lise). Olivia wore these for hours this morning. It was so cute! She went around saying "ruff, ruff, ruff"!

Seeing old friends.....

We went to a lake out-side of St Louis to spend the weekend with the Robinson’s. They are a couple that we met while in China when we all got our daughters. We really bonded with both Katie & Marc while in China.

Our girls are from the same orphanage. Sofie was in foster care most of her year in China. Both girls were brought back to the orphanage 2 weeks before we got them. So, the girls would have been together then plus the 5-hour drive to Changsha where we then got the girls. Then we all were together for 2 weeks while in China.

The girls didn’t act like they "KNEW" each other but they started playing together and it was like they had their own language. No they weren’t talking in Chinese to each other… they actually seemed to be playing a game and only they knew the rules. It was so cute to see the girls together, and it was great to see Marc & Katie. We had a wonderful time and hope to get together again soon.

Talking.....

I have been meaning to talk about Olivia's vocabulary. She says: Mama, Daddy, Mah (Megan), Nana, Juju, ball, bellie, bear, hi, hello, pup, up, more, bottle, and bye. I'm sure there are more I just can't think of any right now. Plus Olivia does animal noises. She does the sound or movement for dog, cow, fish, sheep, bird, bear and elephant.

When we are with other people Olivia clams up and is very quiet. We need to get her on film so people really believe she does talk. She is so cute!

Mommy & Olivia

I still have to pinch myself to remind me that Olivia is mine and that someone isn't going to knock on my door and take her back. Probably a good thing that we didn't adopt domestic.

I went to the doctor for my yearly check up and my doctor (she had delivered Rachel) asked to see pictures of Olivia. I didn't have any with me, because I always have Olivia with me. I hardly every leave her. The few times I have left her have been when I go to church on Sunday, and when I get my hair cut/colored. I have had friends offer to keep her. I just don't like to leave her. When I do I miss her so much.

Olivia is so much fun! She is amazed at the simplist things. That is the good thing for us 'adults' we forget about the simple pleasures until a child reminds us. So for anyone that is waiting for their baby. It is so worth the "wait". I am loving every day that I have with my baby.

I love you my beautiful girl,

Mommy
